Imperial Security provides educational security guards for schools, academies and colleges across Redbridge, covering everything from gate duty at primary schools in Ilford to multi-entrance access control at large secondary academies.

Our SIA licensed guards work with headteachers and site managers to keep pupils, staff and visitors safe during the school day, at drop-off and pick-up, and at evening lettings, without disrupting normal school life.

Redbridge has more than fifty state primary schools and around sixteen secondary schools and academies, alongside a number of independent schools and specialist or alternative provision sites, many of them large campuses built for several hundred or over a thousand pupils. That scale means most sites have multiple gates, several buildings to cover and a constant flow of parents, contractors and visitors, so access control has to be organised properly rather than left to whoever happens to be near the office.

Each school in Redbridge holds its own child protection policy and names a Designated Safeguarding Lead, and our guards are trained to work alongside that structure rather than around it. We fit into the school's existing sign-in and safeguarding procedures, flag anything of concern to the right member of staff, and keep a visible, approachable presence at the times parents and pupils actually see it.

Redbridge's schools sit close to busy high streets in Ilford, Wanstead and Chadwell Heath, and many share their frontage with car parks, community centres or sports facilities that are used outside school hours. That mix of a working school site and public-facing space around it is what generates most of the enquiries we get from the borough.

Uncontrolled access at busy gates

At drop-off and pick-up, gates can get crowded with parents, buggies and cars all at once, making it hard for office staff to keep track of who is entering. A guard on the gate manages the flow, checks identification where needed and keeps the entrance moving without it feeling unfriendly.

Unauthorised visitors and trespass

Sites with several gates or shared boundaries with parks and public paths are more exposed to people wandering onto school grounds. Perimeter patrols and a staffed reception close off the easy routes in and mean anyone on site has been through a proper sign-in process.

Antisocial behaviour after hours

Playing fields, sports halls and car parks can attract antisocial behaviour once pupils have gone home, particularly where a school sits near a busy high street. Evening and weekend patrols keep grounds clear and deal with issues before they become a pattern.

Safeguarding concerns going unnoticed

With so many people passing through a large site each day, it is easy for a concerning individual or situation near the gates to go unremarked. A guard who knows the site and the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead adds another set of trained eyes without taking anything away from the school's own procedures.
